Biography

Jake Gentle is a Senior Program Manager and supervisor for Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Secure and Resilient Renewables and Grid Integration portfolio, as well as INL's Laboratory Relationship Manager to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO). As a program manager and staff supervisor, Jake leads teams through the development of technology and providing technical oversight by coordinating state-of-the-art and innovative solutions for the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE), Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and various electric power industry partners. Jake also serves as the Creator-Strategic Advisor for the INL Securing the Path to Net-Zero™️ Initiative.

Since 2009, Gentle has led multiple programs focused on the secure integration of clean energy technologies. This research includes leading the cybersecurity roadmap for wind technologies, wind and solar cybersecurity threat assessments, resiliency and security of distributed energy technologies in microgrid applications, deployable wind and solar energy technologies for defense applications, enhanced methodologies of bare overhead line ratings, and facilitating the global advancement of innovation, verification, and validation of dynamic line rating techniques. Gentle is an active, voting member within the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standards Association. Gentle currently leads an INL initiative called Securing the Path to Net-Zero™.
