title = "Uranium dioxide based castable refractory materials",
abstract = "Refractories are materials that will maintain strength at high temperatures and are typically used as liners for furnaces and other high temperature materials processing equipment. The ability to form uranium dioxide (UO2) refractory materials in a variety of shapes has a number of applications in the nuclear materials processing arena. This paper describes efforts to form UO2-based castable refractory in a variety of shapes including cylindrical crucibles and oblong shaped crucibles. This effort includes: preparation of crushed UO2 base material, binder selection, liner mold development, and testing.",
