Abstract

The Westinghouse ATF team has made good progress in all areas in the ATF development, including both cladding and fuels. The program is focused on the near term key milestones and deliverables, i.e. ATR and LTR insertions in 2018 and 2019 respectively. The team is also concurrently continuing research and development on the high risk, high payoff, long term ATF options such as optimized U3Si2 fuel, UN fuel, high performing UO2 fuel, and SiC cladding with a goal of lead test assembly in 2021 or 2022.
