Ultrafast imaging of transient displacements using Sagnac interferometry

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The monitoring of optically-induced picosecond surface vibrations and refractive index changes has a wide range of applications in the diagnostics of thin films and nanostructures. We describe Sagnac interferometers for this purpose that use ultrashort optical pulses for the detection or imaging of picosecond bulk and surface acoustic waves.
