Summary of 2020 Common-Cause Failure Parameter Update for U.S. Commercial Operating Nuclear Power Plants

Research output: Contribution to journal › Conference article › peer-review

Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the 2020 CCF parameter update for U.S. commercial operating NPPs. A few major changes were implemented in this update, for example, using the most recent 15-year data and applying the 2015 CCF generic priors in the estimates. Some key insights from the update are presented in this paper regarding the character of CCF events, including the CCF parameter results, frequency of occurrence, failure causes, defense, systems, component types, and failure modes.
