Abstract

Researchers at the US Department of Defense's Idaho National Laboratory (INL) developed a technology that provides a single-phase process with reactants dissolved in a critical fluid. The new process can be run as a batch or continuous operation. Having only a single phase eliminates diffusion of the reactants into different liquid phases, thus eliminating mass transfer limitations and speeding up the reaction rate.
