Abstract
The work presented here highlighted the impacts of the thermophysical properties of integral fuel/cladding TREAT experiments on the manifestation of the CHF during RIA pool-and-flow-boiling testing through the means of the HTTC. The maximum fuel centerline temperature was overwhelming dependent on the volumetric heat capacity of the fuel. For the POCT, the CHFF and the volumetric heat capacity of the fuel were the most dominant parameters. The results also showed the importance of dynamic gap effects when modeling transient RIAs. Lastly, another contribution of this work elucidates these effects under flow-boiling conditions, which is not readily available in the literature.
