Abstract

Slurry Bubble Column Reactors are used by industry to manufacture liquid hydrocarbon fuels (diesel or gasoline) via the Fischer Tropsch process. A review of several open-literature sources of both experimental capabilities and published hydrodynamic data to aid in the validation of a Computational Fluid Dynamics based model of a slurry bubble column (SBC) is presented. The review included searching the Web of Science, ISI Proceedings, and Inspec databases, internet searches as well as other open literature sources. The study aims to identify available experimental facilities and relevant data. Selected experimental capabilities and data for the purpose of SBC model validation are highlighted. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake, UT 11/4-9/2007).
