Abstract

A study of selected inhibitors on the inhibition of pitting corrosion in stainless steels 304 and 316 has been undertaken using both macroelectrodes and microelectrodes. Electrolytes contained [Cl-] of 0.1 M Cl- with 0.01 M concentration of inhibitor. Results showed that generally, total number of nucleation and metastable pits had an inverse relationship with the stable pitting potential of stainless steel. copyright The Electrochemical Society.
