Abstract

In this paper, a Reduced-Order Model (ROM) is presented for coupled neutronics and fluid dynamics computations for the Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR) concept. The surrogate models are created using a Reduced-Basis method coupled with Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD-RB) while the training samples are obtained by exercising a Full-Order Model (FOM) created with the OpenFOAM based multi-physics solver, GeN-Foam. Parameterized steady state scenarios are considered in this work. The models solve the multi-group diffusion equations with moving precursors together with the porous medium linear momentum and mass conservation equations. Due to the zero-power assumption, fuel temperature and density feedbacks are not considered. The Discerete Empirical Interpolation Method (DEIM) is used for the handling of flow resistances in the porous fluid dynamics equations.
