Abstract

This paper provides a summary of some of the recent updates to the Advanced Fuel Cycle Cost Basis Report (CBR), performed since the latest public release of the document in February 2018. The objective of the updates is primarily to improve the cost basis for facilities that have the biggest impact on the economic performance of fuel cycles, and for which the costs are currently insufficiently understood. The paper is focused on the following areas: • Bottom-up derivation of the construction cost of a LWR-UOX fabrication facility. • Bottom-up derivation of the construction cost of a LWR-MOX fabrication facility. • Improvements to the F2D2 module on electrochemical separation and remote fuel fabrication. • New chapter describing which fuel cycle modules contribute most to cost of electricity across fuel cycle options.
