Abstract

Positronium formation in low-density polyethylene was studied using computer simulation and by 1-detector Doppler broadening measurement. The experimental Ps fraction is 35%, and is reproduced by simulation if the positron thermalization distance is 150nm. Additional simulations were performed to investigate the effect of the mobilities of the positron-induced charged species, and of the electron and positron thermalization distances, on Ps formation.
