note = "Funding Information: ATF development is supported by multiple U.S. national laboratories, academia, and industry. Involvement of multiple entities ensures engagement of the necessary expertise and utilization of specialized facilities for design, development, and testing. In 2012, nuclear technology vendors and utility operators were specifically engaged in the ATF development through funding opportunity DE-FOA-0000712. Supported in Phase I via 80 percent funding provided by the U.S. DOE with 20 percent industry cost share, the industry-led ATF projects are set to proceed to Phase II development activities in FY 2017. Rigorous concept reviews by an Independent Technical Review Committee will be conducted in 2016, and a competitive federal acquisition process will be completed prior to funding Phase II activities. The Phase I industry teams are led by AREVA, GE Global Research, and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Each team is joined by additional members from industry, universities, and national laboratories. Each team has included a utility partner to ensure that utility concerns and requirements are also addressed early in the development process. For more information on the industry-led ATF concepts and their development status, see references [2–5].; 2016 Transactions of the American Nuclear Society Annual Meeting, ANS 2016 ; Conference date: 12-06-2016 Through 16-06-2016",
