Abstract
The installation of monitored natural attenuation (MNA) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to test the intrinsic aerobic cometabolism of trichloroethylene (TCE) plume is discussed. The plume is divided into three areas such as hotspot, defined as the portion of the plume with TCE concentrations greater than 20 000 micrograms per liter. Medial zone is the portion where the TCE concentration is less than 1000 μg/l and the distal zone is the portion with less than 1000 μg/l. Field testing of several multilevel sampling systems showed that a commercially available multilevel sock sampler, the FLUTe system, was best suited at TAN.
