Abstract

In Chapter 2 of this book, the energy transfer interactions of fast charged particles with matter were discussed from the viewpoint of the incident particle. This chapter will describe and examine the consequences of energy deposition in matter with the goal of providing an understanding of the physico-chemical and chemical processes involved.
