LocationGeneralizer: Convert Location Data into Generic Location Descriptions

This software converts detailed location history data from mobile devices into generic location descriptions. The purpose is to provide useful information to researchers without revealing personally identifiable information. The software is designed for trigger-based data on parked locations and dwell times of automobiles. It is being used by the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to analyze data from consumer electric vehicles (EVs) in the project "EV Project 2.0 - Charging into the New Decade," sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. INL needs generalized data on vehicle location since automakers cannot share specific GPS coordinates to protect privacy. The software allows automakers to provide general location descriptions to INL. INL will use this data, along with other parameters provided by automakers, to analyze EV driver behavior in relation to charging locations and times. This will help optimize charging infrastructure and model electric vehicle demand. The software is specifically developed for the automakers partnering with INL in this project.
