Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Toward greener organic synthesis: A high activity for the aerobic oxidation of alcohols is achieved under base-free and ambient conditions by using gold catalysts supported on mesostructured γ-Ga2O3/Al2O3 solid solutions (see picture). The enhanced activity is attributed to the extraordinary alcohol-dehydrogenation activity of gallia-based mixed oxides.
