Abstract

CORAIL is a standard heterogeneous UOX-MOX subassembly studied with the aim of enlarge the possibilities to manage Plutonium stocks in PWRs. This paper presents recent Work done to verify the feasibility of the concept. The studies includes burn-up improvement, core behaviour, safety transients and the impact on the present fabrication and re-processing plants. CORAIL is one of the near term deployable concepts based on standard mature technologies.
