Abstract

The enhanced ductility in strongly textured magnesium produced by equal channel angular processing was discussed. Tensile tests were performed on the samples having various orientations using an Instron servo-hydraulic load frame operating with a constant crosshead velocity providing an initial strain of about 5×10-3 s-1. The results suggested that plastic anisotropy (related to crystallographic texture) and fracture anisotropy (related to morphological texture) were frequently same.
