Abstract

The National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) accelerates the demonstration and deployment of advanced nuclear energy through its mission to inspire stakeholders and the public, empower innovators, and deliver successful outcomes. NRIC is a national U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program led by Idaho National Laboratory, allowing collaborators to harness the world-class capabilities of the U.S. National Laboratory System. As part of the execution of this charge, NRIC works to accelerate and enable rapid demonstration of reactor concepts proposed by industry by developing two test beds that can accommodate a wide range of advance reactor designs. These test beds provide an opportunity for reactor stakeholders to test design concepts and demonstrate safety components capabilities. Documented in this report is an overview of the safety basis process, analyses requirements, and engagement expectations with Idaho National Laboratory to become authorized by DOE prior to testing within the NRIC test beds.
