Direct decomposition of methane to hydrogen on metal loaded zeolite catalyst

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

The direct catalytic decomposition of methane to hydrogen on metal loaded catalyst was studied as an alternative to steam reforming. The decomposition process did not produce CO2 emissions and the product was not contaminated with CO, a poison for PEM fuel cells. The direct catalytic decomposition of methane over a metal modified zeolite catalyst was studied. ASPEN simulations results comparing methane steam reforming and direct decomposition processes were also presented. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 230th ACS National Meeting (Washington, DC 8/28/2005-9/1/2005).
