N2 - Mesh generation for high-resolution simulations is an intensive process and often includes steps that are specific to the intended solution method. This summary describes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh generation methods applied to spacer grid subchannels for use with Nek5000. The generated meshes were held to the appropriate y+ and Taylor micro scale requirements. Separate meshes were created for flow conditions corresponding to several Reynolds numbers ranging between 1,000 and 10,000. The cell count of these meshes ranged between approximately 5×103 and 4×105. Preliminary results suggest the mesh cell size estimates are adequate, but better quality meshes made with smaller cell sizes may be necessary.
