Bison application to the analysis of LWR fuel responses under accident conditions

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This paper presents recent results sponsored by US DOE's CASL and IRP programs for the modeling and simulation of fuel responses in design basis accidents in Light Water Reactors (LWRs): specifically, the application of Bison code to the modeling of RIAs including, a) Bison code validation on PCMI-induced failures in simulated RIA tests, b) PWR fuel responses in control Rod Ejection Accident (REA), and c) Modeling performance of coated clad under RIA conditions. The RIA modeling and simulation demonstrates the versatility of Bison code for the evaluation of fuel responses in the fast-transient domain.
