Abstract

A new method for obtaining an approximate solution to nonlinear diffusion-reaction boundary value problems based on the maximum principle is presented. The method is direct and yields pointwise upper and lower bonds on the solution. For illustration the method is applied to isothermal Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetics in a porous catalyst slab.
