    Biography

Dr. Prithivirajan is a Computational Materials Scientist specializing in the modeling of graphite degradation and high-temperature material behavior in advanced nuclear reactor systems. His expertise spans finite element methods, mechanical behavior of materials, and materials science, with broad applications in nuclear energy systems. He has developed multicomponent reactive transport models to predict oxidation behavior in nuclear graphite, conducted thermo-mechanical analyses of molten salt infiltration and wear effects on graphite structural integrity, and formulated crystal plasticity-based constitutive models for ceramic nuclear fuels. His work advances the predictive understanding of materials under extreme environments—encompassing thermal, mechanical, and irradiation conditions—thereby supporting the safety and performance of next-generation nuclear reactors. Dr. Prithivirajan earned his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University, where he investigated the fatigue behavior of additively manufactured superalloys using crystal plasticity modeling.
