Biography
Dr. Taejin Kim is a Instrumentation and Controls(I&C) engineer at Plant Optimization Department in Idaho National Laboratory (INL). With a steadfast dedication to advancing nuclear I&C field, he has actively contributed to numerous projects involving digital I&C systems, human reliability analysis, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Prior to joining INL, Dr. Taejin Kim served as Senior Researcher at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) from 2019 to 2025, where he designed I&C systems for small modular reactors and research reactors, and conducted research in natural language processing and cybersecurity. Before KAERI, he worked at KEPCO E&C from 2010 to 2019 as nuclear I&C systems engineer, designing I&C systems for the OPR1000 and APR1400 reactors.
Dr. Taejin Kim holds a Ph.D in Nuclear and Quantum Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST). In addition to his doctorate, he earned a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science from Handong Global University.
