Biography

Dr. Yoo is a distinguished staff scientist at INL with expertise in various aspects of pyroprocessing technology including flowsheet design, electrochemistry theory and applications, modeling and simulation, material accountancy and safeguards, process software development, etc. He received a Ph.D. in 2002 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan, Ann Abor. He was the sole recipient of University of Michigan distinguished achievement award in 2003 for electrical engineering:system program chosen by department and program faculty to recognize academic and personal excellence.

He joined Argonne National Laboratory in 2002 and subsequently Idaho National Laboratory in 2005. He has led various software development efforts at INL including the pyroprocessing flowsheet simulation code, MASTERS. Also, he is a unique contributor to INL pyroprocessing mass tracking system, MTG, in the capacity of interdisciplinary understanding of various science and engineering fields. He has led various theoretical modeling efforts from pyroprocessing flowsheets to the instrumentations of the unit processes. A recent innovative solution to a long-standing input accountancy issue for used oxide fuel pyroprocessing is his high visibility contribution to a safeguard and material accountancy field.
