Biography

Samuel Koomson, a seasoned Postdoctoral Research Associate with extensive expertise in high-temperature electrochemical systems, notably fuel and electrolysis cells, joined the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in 2024. His acclaimed Ph.D. thesis, "Experimental Investigation of Mass Transfer Effect in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells," earned him recognition as the best graduating PhD candidate at Hanbat National University (HNU), South Korea. During his tenure as a Postdoctoral Researcher at HNU, he spearheaded research focused on hydrogen and syngas production through electrolysis in molten carbonate electrolyzers. At INL, he is actively involved in hydrogen production via steam electrolysis, employing proton-conducting electrolyzers operating at intermediate temperatures.

Proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells and electrolyzers,  solid oxide fuel cells and electrolyzers, molten carbonate fuel cells and electrolyzers, electrochemistry, electrochemical engineering, electrochemical techniques, Green and renewable energy technologies and high temperature electrochemical systems.
