    Biography

    Michael E. Woods, Ph.D., is a research scientist and manager of the Advanced Technology of Molten Salts Department at Idaho National Laboratory. His work investigates the chemistry and engineering of molten salts as they pertain to advanced nuclear reactors and reprocessing applications. His background and expertise include the study of liquid metal electrodes for fission product recovery, characterization of molten salts—via electrochemistry, spectroscopy, and thermophysical property measurement techniques—and high-pressure low-temperature high-magnetism sample preparation for condensed matter physics experiments.

    He holds a Ph.D in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University and has over twenty-five scientific publications in the field of molten salts.
