Biography

Lauren M. Ward, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Mineral and Molecular Separation and Analysis Department at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

Lauren earned her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University in 2020. She then joined Dr. Steven T. Weinman’s lab at The University of Alabama for her Ph.D. and graduated in May 2025. Her research focused on studying how the surface morphology of the nanofiltration membrane can be changed to decrease fouling along with studying switchable polarity solvents for desalinating hypersaline brines.

At INL, Lauren will use her knowledge of separations to help separate out lanthanides from waste streams.
