Dr. Josh Jarrell currently leads Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL’s) Fuel Cycle Science and Technology division, which focuses on delivering nuclear fuel cycle solutions that enable the deployment of advanced nuclear energy concepts through innovative aqueous and pyrochemical separations technology development and demonstration, nuclear material and isotope recovery and availability, waste and used fuel management, proliferation risk reduction, and the development of cutting-edge testbed environments.
Previously, Dr. Jarrell supported the Department of Energy’s high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) progam, led INL’s Pyrochemistry and Molten Salt System Department, as well as created and then led INL’s Used Fuel Management Department. Prior to joining INL in 2017, Dr. Jarrell worked seven years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a R&D staff member with a focus on modeling and simulation of nuclear reactors as well as spent fuel management. Dr. Jarrell holds a B.S. and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University.
PhD, Nuclear Engineering, Texas A&M University
Bachelor, Nuclear Engineering, Texas A&M University
