Biography

Dr. Heather Chichester is the director of the Post-Irradiation Examination division at Idaho National Laboratory’s Materials and Fuels Complex. She manages the Hot Fuel Examination Facility (HFEF) and the Neutron Radiography (NRAD) reactor to produce INL nuclear science and technology mission outcomes. She is responsible for strategic planning, work execution, facility operations, prioritization, and personnel development. She holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned her bachelor’s in Nuclear Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before coming to INL in 2006, she was a member of the Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative Techincal Intergration Team at Sandia National Laboratory. Since May 2010 she has been an adjunct faculty member of University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Engineering Physics.
