Biography
Guy received his B.Sc. (1990), M.Sc. (1992), and Ph.D. (1996) in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
He worked at Reynolds Metals Company (1996 – 2000) where he provided technical support to Hall-Héroult cell operations to five aluminum smelters in the US and Canada and performed various corporate research projects to improve the efficiencies of aluminum and aluminum alloy production.
He worked at Hazen Research (2000 – 2007) where he performed research projects for client companies in the mining and chemicals industries. These projects included process flowsheets for metals extraction from ores and advanced materials synthesis.
He joined INL in 2007 where he continues to work as a research scientist in the area of pyrochemical separations applied to used nuclear fuels. His expertise is in molten salt electrochemistry, uranium electrorefining, and transuranic recovery.
