Biography

Garrett LeCroy is a postdoctoral researcher at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) working on methods to improve process monitoring and safeguards in molten salt systems. His primary expertise lies in spectroscopic characterization of materials. He holds a doctorate in materials science and engineering from Stanford University. Before joining INL in 2024, he was a graduate student and then postdoctoral researcher with the Geballe Laboratory for Advanced Materials at Stanford University where his work focused on charge transport, structural, and mid-Infrared spectroscopic characterization of advanced semiconducting materials. At INL, his work primarily involves development and improvement of spectroscopic probes/techniques for monitoring fission by-products and corrosion products in molten salt systems. This work includes the development of high-temperature absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) capabilities alongside coupled chemometric analysis to perform real-time monitoring of reactions and components in molten salts.
