Edward Reber, Ph.D., is a distinguished scientist at the Idaho National Laboratory where he works on projects involving nuclear experiments and analysis. These diverse projects have included nuclear nonproliferation, basic nuclear research, spent nuclear fuel characterization, national security, gamma-ray spectroscopy, in-reactor experiment fission product monitoring, nuclear fuel post-irradiation examination, and being the technical lead for the Idaho Explosives Detection System. Dr. Reber has been with INL more than 23 years. He holds a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics from Florida State University and a B.S. in physics from the State University of New York at Geneseo. He has been awarded eight U.S. patents and was awarded the INL Lifetime Achievement Award for Inventorship in January 2009. In 2005, he received the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation’s Homeland Security Award in the Field of Border/Transportation Security. Dr. Reber has over 40 peer-reviewed journal publications. Outside of work, he enjoys soccer, fishing, canoeing, backpacking, and camping.
