Biography

Dawn Scates has spent her career supporting U.S. energy, environmental, and economic needs by developing and applying experimental nuclear methods. Her work is particularly influential in the areas of radioactive waste clean-up and the development of novel reactor fuels. She currently serves as the manager for Integrated Energy and Market Analysis for Idaho National Laboratory’s Nuclear Science and Technology Directorate. Dawn leads her department in developing concise policy guidance to support advanced reactor development, light water reactor sustainability, systems analysis/integration, and integrated energy systems. Their work encompasses diverse inputs such as regional economic impact analysis and supply risk chain modeling. 
 
Outside of work, Dawn enjoys spending time with her family and riding horses in Idaho’s vast backcountry.
