Biography

Devin Imholte is a mechanical design engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory. His INL engineering experience has included mechanical engineering and systems engineering.

Mechanical Design Engineer (2022-present): Leading mechanical engineering and design efforts for the Cask Demonstration project for the Used Fuel Management Department.

Experiment Design Engineer (2018-2022): Leading mechanical design and integration of the Advanced Test Reactor Non-Destructive Examination System (ANDES) and irradiation experiment design efforts for experiments at the Transient Reactor Test Facility (TREAT): ATF-SETH, Sirius-1, MARCH-SERTTA, ATF-R, THOR (THOR-C, EPIC, THOR-M, aLEU-P2M, MOXTOP) and TWIST."

  • Accident Tolerance Fuel – Separate Effects Test Holder (ATF-SETH)
  • Minimal-Activation Retrievable Capsule Holder (MARCH)-Static Environment Rodlet Transient Test Apparatus (SERTTA)
  • Accident Tolerance Fuel Previously Irradiated (ATF-R)
  • Temperature Heat sink Overpower Response (THOR)
  • THOR-Commissioning (THOR-C)
  • Experimental Breeder Reactor-II Previously Irradiated Conductivity (EPIC)
  • THOR-Metallic fuel (THOR-M)
  • Advanced Low-Enriched Uranium Power to Melt (aLEU-P2M)
  • Mixed Oxide Transient OverPower (MOXTOP)
  • Transient Water Irradiation System in TREAT (TWIST)

Systems Engineer (2014-2018): His system engineering experience has included roadmapping and system dynamics supply chain analysis. He has developed technology roadmaps and timelines for numerous (20+) projects for the Critical Materials Institute (CMI). From 2014-2018, he managed >$1M in DOE funding as principal investigator of a project that analyzed CMI research and critical material supply chains to characterize CMI R&D impact.

He holds a bachelor's in engineering from James Madison University and a master of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho.
