Personal profile
Biography
Cody Permann has over 25 years of experience working in scientific and technical computing fields at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). He now serves as the manager for the Computational Frameworks department, which oversees the development and maintenance of the Multiphysics Object Oriented Simulation Environment (MOOSE) as well as the Deputy Lead for Multiphysics Applications for the Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NEAMS) program. He was the MOOSE team lead from 2014 through early 2020. Cody began his employment at INL immediately after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Idaho State University in May 2000. He completed his master’s degree in 2010 and his Ph.D. in 2017, both in computer science. Cody has received two Laboratory Director’s Awards (2011, 2014) an R&D100 Award (2014), and more than 16 software copyrights for his work on the MOOSE framework and related modeling and simulation applications.
Research Interests
I enjoy exploring scalable parallel algorithms and creating user-friendly software for solving complex problems. These days I spend more time establishing and maintaining relationships among researchers among the lab complexes, universities, and with industry partners.
