Biography

Bo Saulsbury has over 35 years of broad project and program management and technical experience in environmental, regulatory, and policy analysis and resource optimization supporting the Department of Energy (DOE), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and Department of Defense (DOD). He has worked in the DOE National Laboratory system since 1987.

· 2023 to Present: Senior Program/Project Manager, Idaho National Laboratory, Energy and Water Systems Analysis

· 2017 to 2023: Project Manager, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Earth Systems Science Division

· 1990 to 2017: Senior R&D Staff, Project/Program Manager, Team/Group Leader, Oak Ridge National Laboratory

· 1987 to 1990: Graduate Student Researcher, University of Tennessee/Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Bo has managed and contributed to a variety of projects assessing the environmental, regulatory, and policy issues associated with hydropower, coal, and geothermal power plant and biorefinery construction and operation (DOE and FERC); nuclear power plant licensing and license renewal and in-situ leach uranium mining (NRC); the disposal of chemical weapons stockpiles and the deployment of battery energy storage systems (DOD); low-altitude military training flights (Air Force); and the U.S. Antarctic research program (National Science Foundation). From 2013 to 2017, he managed ORNL’s Fuel Economy Information Program, which is responsible for DOE’s annual publication Fuel Economy Guide and website www.fueleconomy.gov.

Bo is originally from Morristown, Tennessee, and earned both a B.A. (History) and an M.S. (Planning) from the University of Tennessee. He now lives and works in Potomac, Maryland. He and his wife, Claudia Cantoni, have a son (Andrew) and a daughter (Erica). Bo’s hobbies include running, hiking, fishing, and reading.
