Biography

Dr. Amy E. Kynman is a Glenn T. Seaborg Distinguished Postdoctoral Research Associate at Idaho National Laboratory within the Radiochemical Separations and Radiation Science department.

At INL she is interested in the fundamental mechanisms underpinning the photochemistry and radiation chemistry of the actinides and how this knowledge can be leveraged to reduce the long-term impact of used nuclear fuel.

Amy completed her Ph.D. in synthetic inorganic chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2023), where she worked as part of the Heavy Element Chemistry and Catalysis Programs studying lanthanide and actinide organometallic synthesis for photocatalysis and quantum information storage applications. Prior to her time in California, Amy graduated from the University of Warwick, U.K. with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry (2018) and a European Research Council-funded Masters by Research degree in Chemistry (2019), during which she studied the mechanism and kinetics of oxidative addition reactions using rhodium pincer complexes.
