Biography

Alex Winston has worked in the Advanced Characterization department at MFC for the last three years in irradiated sample preparation. He is the Instrument Scientist for the Phenom SEM. He has begun working with the SEM and FIB to do materials characterization and micro-preparation.  He has experience preparing highly irradiated materials in many forms using various processes including automated mechanical polishing, electro-polishing, and ion polishing for SEM, TEM, and nano-mechanical analysis.  He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Purdue University.
