Biography

Dr. Abderrahman Atifi is an electrochemist staff scientist in Idaho National Laboratory’s Chemical Systems Department, researching critical materials, energy and environmental challenges. His areas of expertise include interfacial electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, electrocatalysis, chemometrics and computational analyses. He holds a doctorate in analytical chemistry from Marquette University and a doctorate in physical chemistry from Hassan 1st University in Morocco, where he also earned his master’s in materials sciences. Before joining INL in 2020, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the University of Delaware’s Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. His work at INL includes process optimization and fundamental investigation of electrochemical recovery of critical materials in non-aqueous systems; designing efficient electrocatalytic platforms under ambient conditions; and developing analytical capabilities for interfacial and molecular processes.
