Biography

Dr. Aaron E. Craft is a Research Scientist and Nuclear Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory. Aaron loves all things “nuclear” and desires to see nuclear power through its renaissance and into a new golden age. Towards this goal, Aaron works within his sphere of influence to address technical issues related to accelerating licensing of new nuclear fuels and materials. He loves working with people and developing teams. Dr. Craft received his BS and MS degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Missouri S&T in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and his PhD in Nuclear Science & Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 2013. He has been working full time at INL since 2013 serving as a collaborator and principle investigator on numerous projects involving X-ray and neutron radiography and tomography. He is currently a Senior Scientist in the Reactors Division at the Materials & Fuels Complex at INL and the Scientific Lead for the Neutron Radiography Reactor (NRAD). Dr. Craft recently served as President of the International Society for Neutron Radiography (ISNR) and host of the 12th World Conference for Neutron Radiography in 2024, and is currently on the ISNR Board. His current research activities focus on reactor utilization, generally, and specifically developing digital neutron imaging capabilities for examination of highly radioactive objects such as irradiated nuclear fuel. Dr. Craft is regularly sought out for his expertise by internal collaborators and well as external national & international groups.
